POSITION SUMMARY
This position requires the responsibility of performing complex administrative, clerical, and supervisory duties in the Magistrate Court.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Supervises deputy clerks, assigns and reviews work.
• Prepares a variety of written correspondence including reports, memorandums, notices, and letters.
• Receives and responds to inquiries from the public, attorneys, and others, in-person, by phone, or by computer.
• Schedule hearings and prepare court notices and calendars for all court proceedings.
• Researches and analyzes information, and draft memorandums, letters, and court orders for use in the preparation of court hearings, trials, and meetings.
• Assists with day to day operations within the Magistrate Court office.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS/ ABILITIES
• Knowledge of department, and policies and procedures that apply to the Magistrate Court.
• Knowledge of Georgia laws and their application to the procedures handled in the Magistrate Court.
• Skill in operating modern office equipment; skill in Microsoft based word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Ability to demonstrate good judgment and be able to make independent decisions in a production environment.
• Ability to maintain records and compile data.
• Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Ability to use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public.
• Ability to handle multiple interruptions and adjust priorities throughout the day.
• Ability to communicate, both orally and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county officials, co-workers, judges, and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of college coursework in a related field.
• Two (2) years progressively supervisory experience or experience as a Deputy Clerk II.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience or experience as a Deputy Clerk III.
