Strategic Legal Practices is seeking a full-time Legal Docketing Clerk with a minimum of 1 year of prior work experience performing calendaring duties at a law firm. This position will be responsible for calendaring case deadlines for various courts and jurisdictions, reviewing documents in order to calculate deadlines, and preparing reports capturing accurate events and deadlines pursuant to applicable rules.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Timely and accurately calculate rule-based litigation deadlines in various jurisdictions
  • Input and maintain up-to-date and complete electronic calendar including dates pertaining to filings, discovery, motion, depositions and hearings in the Firm’s calendaring platform, including reminders
  • Review and process incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, emails, and e-filings to ensure important deadlines are calendared.
  • Review and process separate calendar requests from attorneys and legal assistants
  • Generate docket reports and queries as requested
  • Research, interpret and advise attorneys and legal assistants in writing of applicable State and Federal local rules and practices with respect to calendaring deadlines

Requirements

Qualifications:


  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet firm deadlines, pay close attention to detail, maintain accuracy. Have a high degree of self-accountability and ownership relating to assignments and initiatives.
  • Ability to multitask on numerous assignments and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to use time efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, demanding and ever-changing environment, while successfully adapting to changing priorities and work demands
  • Ability to interact and communicate with partners, attorneys, and legal assistants
  • Ability to calculate rule-based litigation deadlines per applicable court rules and statutes
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with both State and Federal court deadlines, rules and procedures
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft, document management systems, legal calendar programs, and online court database, including PACER
  • Excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills


Education / Certification and Preferred Experience:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education (required); Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior experience required
  • Law Firm experience required
